Hundreds of runners have registered to participate in this weekend's Capital 10-Miler run. The run, which has benefited dozens of Capital-area arts organizations over the years, will take place on March 31.

The event will start and finish on City Island, with the course including the riverfront, Capital Area Greenbelt, and the scenic bridges over the Susquehanna.

Local arts organizations participating in this year's event include Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Market Square Concerts, Open Stage of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Regional Ballet, Susquehanna Folk Music Society and The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.

Registrants over the years have included runners from several Mid-Atlantic and New England states as well as local and regional participants.

Runners view the Capital 10-Miler as a carefully constructed event with a great course. Hundreds are already registered for the run this weekend.

On the day of the pace, packet pickup and registration takes place from 7 to 8:45 a.m. at the Carousel Pavilion on City Island. Walkers will start at 8:15 a.m. with runners starting at 9 a.m.

$100 cash prize money will go to the first male/female finishers, with various other awards will go to other age groups, teams and categories.
